- SIMON OWOADE: Developing Minds…Empowering People
I was born in the UK. After graduating from University in 1998, I worked as a secondary school teacher for three years, preparing students for their GCSE’s. It was during that time that I developed a passion for helping young people to address issues in their lives through counselling and pointing them in the right direction to receive professional help.
As a member of a Christian charity organisation, I was involved with the Prison Fellowship, and visited prison regularly to speak to, support and help prison inmates address their offending behaviour and prepare for their release. I was also involved in visiting hospitals to support and encourage hospital patients.
On my return to the UK, I worked with HM Revenue & Customs at Heathrow Airport. I have also worked as a Prison Officer in a detention centre for female offenders, and as a Community Support Officer with the Metropolitan Police Service.
I have been involved in motivational speaking engagements across London and in Manchester, especially within Black Communities, motivating young people to shun violence and crime, and develop themselves positively. I have spoken at the Victoria Climbie Foundation, the United Anglo-Caribbean Society and at various events for young people within black communities. I have appeared on Ben TV, Revelation TV and been involved in discussion programmes on Premier Christian Radio. I have also written for the Hillingdon Race Equality Council.
I am presently a volunteer worker with Teen Challenge, a Christian charity committed to helping drug addicts beat their drug addiction, and become successful in life, going on to live drug free lives. I also volunteer with Barnados, a children’s charity that supports troubled children who may have experienced drug misuse, youth crime, sexual abuse and domestic violence, working to bring out the best in every child.
I am a Writer, Motivational Speaker and Training Facilitator, developing minds and empowering people.
