To everyone..Christian and non Christian.

I wish everyone peace and joy and blessings from our Heavenly Father. I pray for all those who struggle with loneliness and depression, especially this time of year, that God will give you peace, and that He will fill the void in your life and strengthen you emotionally, mentally and physically. God does make a way where there seems to be no way, if only we can open our hearts to trust Him. My desire for the new year is to walk more closely with my Lord, and to spend as much time in prayer and w… Continue

The 'festive season'.

At this time of year I feel almost 'obliged' to be all happy and in the Christmas mood and mode! Truth be known I find this a difficult time of year. Yes, I am grateful that we celebrate the birth of Jesus and all the hope that His birth brought to mankind..but let's be honest, Christ has been taken out of Christmas in so many ways. I get annoyed and sad at the 'party party' attitude and adverts. It is so sad to think that so many people care more about what they will receive, rather than what t… Continue

Thanks for your support and encouragement - It's much appreciated.

If you feel you need some extra support you could join my Pastoral Care Group where there's a section on Coping With Christmas.

Take care and God Bless

I Myfanwy. Glad to see that you have had good experiences on here too and not been too disheartened by some of the nutters. To be honest you get the good and the 'interesting' wherever you go, but you can filter a lot of that out by just engaging with the stuff you want to engage with. I know how you feel about Christmas. I lost my dad and younger brother within 6 months of each other the year before last. There's just mum and me left now and this year we have hardly thought about Christmas. We made a stab at putting some decorations up, but I ended up just putting them away again. It turned out better, though. We just kept out an illuminated Nativity Scene and then we are jut having candles arond the place and it now feels Christmassy...but in a nice way....not all the usually baudy stuff...just clean white lights. I might even contemplate going to church ;-) Keep in touch!

Borre Dar, Myfanwy! Just thought I'd drop you a line to see how you are. I hope being on Community is starting to be a blessing to you. Are you all prepared from Christmas? It's not a time of year I look forward to, but I feel this year....that I'm in control of Christmas and not the other way round. Easier for me than others with big families I know. I'm just not phased by it. Anyway, take care.

WONDERFUL stuff. :) I'm so pleased for you. That feeling of being without a community you can really connect with really isn't fun. We had a female Christian minister from Wales posting to the forum at one point. A lovely woman. Wouldn't it be ironic if your local minister turned out to be the same person. I imagine that the minister we had posting probably got to the point where she really didn't have the time to continue. A good minister rarely does have much time. Sadly so many good ministers end up burning out from over-work. I get quite concerned for the friends I have who are church ministers/pastors. Mind you, given that they are aware of the work I do for my faith community, I've had one or two reciprocal comments about over-work. :D I think it goes with the territory... Christian pastor, Pagan pastor... whatever pastor. It all requires an approach to life and those you serve that means you're on call near enough all the time. I've done a fair few 3 am mercy missions in my time, having to get up for the day job at 6 the same morning. We have a team of about 6 people for the whole of the greater London area. Each of us can support the others when necessary and a few of us have people who can help out at a pinch. But mainly it falls to us. Fortunately our community is relatively small by comparison to some other faith groups. So the needs are relatively smaller. But proportionately I think we probably have an equally tough job.

But it is really wonderful that you may have found just the right church and who knows, you could even become one of the people your minister can call on to ease the load. :)

You are still VERY welcome to join the moot. We would love to have you there. The Christians we have on site are a very sane and stable bunch. Every once in a while we get a Christian who has been led astray. mainly the damaged people who turn up are people who are turning to Paganism having been hurt by one church or another... still feeling it is the Christian faith that has hurt them and not seeing the human element at the core of the hurt. It is a tough one to untangle. But we're generally very patient and supportive. Some stay as Pagans, but more balanced and with a clearer picture of what Pagan paths can offer them. Some return to Christianity wiser about their faith and more discerning about church communities, how human dynamics can and generally does muddy the waters in ANY community and how to see through that and recognise if it is an obstacle to following their faith or not. that we at the moot do that kind of thing can make both the Christian and the Pagan community a bit edgy... some Pagans suggest the site is a Christian infiltration endeavour, some Christians think we are aiming to bring Satan into the hearts and minds of 'Good Christians'. Fear and paranoia in both faith camps. What we're really about is providing a safe haven for people to discuss their faith with people from different faith backgrounds.... and with that safe haven established we find that people who are in turmoil about matters of faith turn up in need of care. We're a caring community.
