GOD ALWAYS IN CONTROL

A man from Norfolk , VA called a local radio station to share this on Sept 11th, 2003, TWO YEARS AFTER THE TRAGEDIES OF 9/11/2001..

His name was Robert Matthews. These are his words:

A few weeks before Sept. 11th, my wife and I found out we were going to have our first child.. She planned a trip out to California to visit her sister. On our way to the airport, we prayed that God would grant my wife a safe trip and be with her. Shortly after I said 'amen,' we both heard a loud pop and the car s… Continue

MY TESTIMONY OF GOD'S GRACE

My testimony is I hope an encouragement to many of God's grace in my life and how the Lord can work and will acheive his plan and will His way.
I was adopted at 6 weeks and my parents were nominal church of Scotland members but I was given picture books on various bible stories + the life of Jesus, in that time early it was found I had a stammer that made school + life all the more difficult.
But only when I met Jean who was a christian at the age of 26 that I became under the sound of the word… Continue

The second thing is... round about February - yes that long ago I started getting pain in the back of my knees... went to the hospital and they diagnosed me with athritis... still it got worse... and my hands started aching as well... went to see a Rhumatologist and she admitted me to hosptial.. only for a routine ultra sound to see if anything else was wrong... they then found I had a liver abnormality... and they wanted me to stay in a week while they did further tests... that week turned into six weeks.. I have been out of hosptial now for two weeks... and it is really good to be home... I am on a cocktail of medication including steroids... and these are being reduced every five days... so that eventually I will be off them totally. Just a thought for prayer I have another ultra sound MRI scan on 24th July and would really appreciate some prayer.

Hi Gordon,

How's the summer going in your part of the country? Has been very nice in the South-East and have been enjoying sitting the graden and reading/listening to the radio.

Tomorrow, I am going to visit the OM ship Logos Hope which is at South Quay in Docklands, London. I use to work for OM, so it might bring back some memories. I am sure you will interested to hear how it went.

Have just finished a series of speaking engagements over the past 3 or 4 weekends. To be honest, am glad of a break for the next few weeks. But last Sunday evening was special. We had an adult baptism (woman from Nigeria) and it was a honour to speak. Nigerians are so committed to their faith. They drew the best out of me for the evening.

Hope everyone is ok in Scotland. Best wishes and every blessing.

Hi Gordon,

Your prayers were answered. The weather was glorious and around 5,000 turned up for the Garden Fete. We raised about £6,000, about half which go to a good cause and the other towards supporting the work of the church here in Stanford-le-Hope. Saturday evening was also a great success with great food and everyone enjoying the games. The Fete has always been held on the late May Bank Holiday Monday.

Don't follow your point about the M&S 125th anniversary. Am a bit slow, grateful if you would explain further.

Even in the civil service jobs are under threat during this recession and the need for the government to balance public spending. Whoever is in power will need to make reductions to make the books balance. but the trick will be to try and ensure that front-line public services are not affected too much. At 53, I would hope to a decent pay-off, but I am taking nothing for granted.

My daughter Ella is going on a church summer camp to the Lake District in July/August. So yours truly will have to drive her up and take my own holiday in the area at the same time. I don't mind really, but suppose it was one of the 'joys' of parenthood.

Pleased you enjoyed My Fair Lady. Any pics of you sailing on Lake Windermere?

Best wishes and every blessing.

Hi Gordon,
We had a good weeekend, went for a lovely walk yesterday from our home, along the sea wall, to a roman fort/church 5 miles away, it was a beautiful sunny day. Just as we arrived back home the heavens opens and we had thunder and lightening, perfect timing!
In Brighton it was the arts festival, so it was very busy, our church party all enjoyed it.
We have an opportunity to go on the 'Logos hope' soon. It will be in London, we will have to think about it.
What is it with men and HMV, I have to put my foot down sometimes. Can't have Derek spending more than me!
We watched a couple of good films on TV at the weekend 'Night at the museum' and 'Mission imposible two'.
I will be seeing Niki on 13th as she is coming down for Dereks dads 70th birthday party. I think she is well, I know she has just persauded her husband to buy her a rabbit, and she is like a new mum at the moment, bless her.
Well Gordon I'm off to the shops now, it's rainy and windy so I shall be brave!

God bless

Hi Gordon I am so sorry I cannot help with the pc problem.. I know how horrid that can be and how frustrating it is, I only hope that someone on here will be able to give a hand. I think that's one of the most lovelist things about this community, everyone so wants to help, that is just so nice.. :-) I'm glad that M&S called you even though you say it may have just been a routine call, at least you're still in their records and if they are willing to take the time out and the expence to give you a follow up call.. who knows! to me that says heaps, so i only hope they will put your details at the front of their files.. :-) I'm off on Hols from Monday and I so need it, I really do need the break and i plan on making the most of it, but i will tell all on my return. Anyway Gordon have a blessed weekend and Gods love to both you and Christine xx

Hi Gordon,

Greetings from a tired Donald. Have been working on the church land in preparation for the annual Garden Fete. It attracts thousands of people, but the preparation of the grounds and genreal organsation is quite stressful, although there is some fun. The Fete is held on 26 May and the Saturday before we hold a social event for the Church family with yours truly as the 'Ted Bovis' entertainments manager. So if you have time please pray that everything goes according to plan (including the weather). Last year was the worse ever with a torrential downpour.

Greetings and God Bless.

Hi Gordon,
we had a new boiler about a year ago, it makes such a difference.
We are off to Brighton today with a coach full from the church. just praying it doesn't rain too hard!
Derek has now got his own page (Derek Allardyce) it gets confusing because when we log on I get his page and he gets mine sometimes, as we only have one computer!
Have a good weekend
Blessings
