Ah. I really think that we need to approach this with a lot of sensitivity.... so perhaps the best solution is a dual action, firstly for us just not to the tell the Pope, to save upset. And then perhaps a quick call to St Peter, to ask for Ploughboy's name to be taken off the Christmas card list.

OK, the first priority must be one of 'containment' and damage limitation. This could be very damaging to the Pope's reputation and so I propose an emergency meeting to be held at a secret location in Italy, where we might formulate the 'fightback' campaign.

All those in agreement with this proposal indicate so with the secret seal.....

:-) No, I think Ploughboy too old for the Jesuits to do anything with him now.  :-)

Wonderful! They would melt the hardest of hearts!!

Aww, did you see the little dogs dressed up as nuns. (0.26) ....I want one!!

I might have a rummage through the sowing box, to see I can rustle up a habit and a simple wimple for my little dog!

I wouldn't share in Martin's confident assertion and I would be reluctant to confirm that any particular person is saved - no matter who they are. I don't think I have the omniscience or authority.

Dwight

No, not at all, she loves dressing up, she adores all the fuss. Terriers are all ego, they border on narcissism. :-)
well, this is clearly true because you said so! Judge Jack, damning all those who disagree with him. Nice.
Do you realise what damage your words do Jack? Think before you post.

your posts, Jack. The words in your posts. Do you think that it will help Dwight to have a cheap dig about his denomination?

you could rely less on intelligence and more on discernment. (And, indeed, the spiritual man is invited to judge all things; but the Spirit is the spiritual man's yardstick, not his intelligence)

OK lets settle this discussion like adults......

I have no idea whether the pope is a christian or not.Certainly being pope is , of itself, no basis for guaranteeing that any person holding the office is a christian, as , sadly, history has shown.

Yet, because a person is pope does not mean that he is not a Christian either.

A Christian is a Christian based on a relationship with the Father through faith in the Son in the power and reality of the indwelling Holy Spirit. That criteria, which has never changed, nor will it ever, applies to everyone who lives and breathes on this earth. No one is a Christian on the basis of what they believe, of itself.By that I mean a set of beliefs carried around in one's head does not make anyone a Christian. There are 1000's of illiterate people across the world who have never seen a Bible. let alone read one, who are true Christians. They have no set of beliefs as we would define it. They know Jesus loves them and died for them and on that basis have responded to God's invitation of love and come home into the family.

I am not downgrading beliefs, or doctrine. But they are to determine the way we relate to God and how we live in the Spirit. They are not a check list of Christian legitimacy. Being a Christian is about Who you know, far more than about what you know.

As for 'churches' being radically different to the church presented in scripture, you can easily and equally add the CofE. Does that make the AofC a non christian as well? I confess I have my doubts, but ultimately Father God knows the reality of every heart. I know I am a precious loved child of God. I know others who are as well. I enjoyed the company of one earlier this evening at our rehearsal for the upcoming musical we are involved in about the birth of Jesus. I also know many others who are truly Christian, truly born again of the Spirit of God, truly children of God by faith in Jesus. We make a great family really. getting more beautiful every day as Father makes us more like His Son. Of course, I've been in trouble here for confessing that I regard Iggy as my true brother in Christ. Until father God tells me different, I'm sticking with that as well.

Blessings to all, specially to the household of faith.
