The question I would like to ask is:
Is it wise for the Christian community to offer a platform of debate with the BNP, or does this lead to legitimising the BNP's claims to represent British Christianity?

Offering a platform to fascists is always a bad decision. Doesn't matter if you're Christian or not.
Given the BNP's use of lies as a political method and the extreme gullibility and credulity of many Christians I think it doubly dangerous.

But some religious orgnisations could be justly accused of using lies to blind their gullible and trusting flock.
I'm sure that many religious organizations have leaders who are sincere and genuine but I'm equally sure that a good number are led by charlatans who see a route to riches, power over the gullible and a very short working week. The last Church I belonged to was very much in that last mold and I've since checked their Charity Commission filings to see just what a corrupt bunch of shysters they really are.
Yet to offer a counterpoint in my home (Qld, Aus) there are some spectacularly dodgy Churches. Scams, sexual abuse and shennanigans and property frauds of millions of dollars. Add to that liars ("Healer" by Mike-never-had-cancer-Gugglielmucci) and the usual crap but still no Aussie Nick Griffin. The nearest thing we had (Pauline Hanson) is on her way to Pommie land. God did not give the fascists their boost and he won't stop them. That's up to us.

Whatever Griffin is doing it is not speaking up for Christianity. For fascists lying is a political method.
