Bible-Punching American Preachers on Premier Radio

There are just too many of 'em!

I'd rather hear The Message explained in a more conversational tone by residents of good old Blighty.

What say ye?

well I dont think there are that many to be honest. They seem to have tried to focus on some more UK bible teachers. There was one on just now however that I would put in the bible thumping ranter and I switched to radio 4!!!!

The only reason y'all don't like us American's is 'coz we're too direct for you!

You Brits are far too polite and concerned about people's feelings. "Don't want to offend" attitude. Damn man, if people aren't prepared to grow or be challenged, especially by their Pastor, then they should just leave the Church. Don't waste God's time playing Church each week.

You're supposed to become like Him, not remain as you are, putting conditions on Him ... oh, you can't do that, oh, you can't do this ...

Yes we are supposed to be like him, but I cant imagine Jesus ranting and raving at his Disciples. This kind of preaching puts people off. I dive for the off switch at the merest hint of it.

I only normally get to listen to Premier on a Friday, and I've found that since the programming times changed, there are more preachers during the day. I prefer the shows with presenters and when people phone in, or if there is music. I think it probably saves money for them to play the tapes by the preachers as I think they pay Premier to go on as they normally advertise their stuff at the end of the transmission.

What I would like to know is how they decide which message to play before the recording is played. I think there are about 3: One says it may cause you to reflect on your life, one effectively says Premier is not necessarily condoning what they are about to say and I can't remember the other one.

My favourite one on a Friday is the conversational style one with 2 people talking and there is also another one who I think is from a church in London somewhere. Overall, I prefer to listen to teaching from podcasts on my ipod so then I can choose when I can listen.

I hope Premier are listening to what people feel about some broadcasts. There is some teaching about being culturally sensitive when "Preaching/evangelising".I think this is extremly relevant. US brits dont like being shouted at to believe such and such! It can be taught in a relevant way.I like people who use there brains and not ther emotions when preaching/teaching.After all we ALL have to weigh what is said to us in the light of scripture anyway.Jesus only needed to shout a couple of times in the Bible.Read the way HE taught and preached. A good guide.
ALSO (Tongue in cheek) when there is a lot of noise I cant think properly.
I feel that the age of "Babble" is on us in many ways. Who do we listen to,how do we react, why do we react, what do we feel after the emotion/hype has gone.Do we feel even better about GOD 6 months down the line.Is our bank empty and our heart?
Just a few snippets to encourage you.
Cheers
Also how did JESUS do it!!!

Susan ... jesus yelled at the pharisees and saducees when they wouldn't listen. So why complain?

Sometimes the stubborn, religious type need a good yellin'!!!

Why should us Americans be apologetic for the way we teach/preach. Just 'coz y'all are so prim 'n proper don't mean the rest of us are.

I don't mind fireworks. What I often object to is the content of their message - vicious, rabidly right-wing rabble-rousing, health 'n' wealth heresy, or both. I don't mind the likes of Jim Wallace or Tony Campolo, though, and I've got a soft spot for good old Billy G.
